We are a local independent Pharmacy situated in Hambleton, Poulton-Le-Fylde. We have been at our new premises next to the Health Centre on Kiln Lane since 2002 and have close ties with the Over Wyre Medical Centre at Preesall. We have a free prescription delivery service to the Over Wyre district which includes Pilling, Preesall, Knott End, Stalmine, Out Rawcliffe and Hambleton.
We deliver daily to all areas Over Wyre so if something is urgent then that's not a problem. We collect prescriptions daily from the Over Wyre Medical Centre and customers can choose to order their repeat prescription directly with the surgery on 01253 810789, simply request the surgery to direct it to us and we will deliver it within 2 working days of receiving the prescription. Alternatively repeat prescriptions can be ordered online at hambletonpharmacy.co.uk or overwyremc.co.uk or you can phone us on 01253 702219. You can also choose to order your prescriptions using the repeat slips that come with your medication - simply tick what you want and put them in the wooden box in our shop or the one in the doctors. Deliveries of medicines need to be made in person so please make sure you are in or make an arrangement with us to leave it with a neighbour or relative. If you are out most of the time eg. at work, then please collect your medication, we are open until 6pm weekdays and Saturday mornings 9am -12.30pm.
In 2015 repeat prescriptions can be sent to us electronically, saving time and paper, you can choose where to have the prescription sent and you can change to a different Pharmacy whenever you want, you will even get internet Pharmacies asking for your business - however we would hope that you would try to support your local businesses where possible - after all you can call on your local Pharmacist for free advise and support whenever you like. There is no change in how you order your prescription though - just carry on as before.
If you live or work in the Over Wyre area but your doctor is in Fleetwood, Thornton or Carelton then they can now send us your prescription electronically so you can collect it here or have it delivered by us. This will save you traveling to the GP to collect your repeat prescription or traveling to a Pharmacy miles away.Speak to David and he will explain how it works and make any arrangements.

The only way of knowing whether you have high blood pressure is to have a blood pressure test.
All adults over 40 are advised to have their blood pressure checked at least every 5 years. Getting this done is easy and could save your life.
You can get your blood pressure tested at a number of places, including at our pharmacies. If you've not been diagnosed with high blood pressure and would like to get yours checked, contact or visit one of our branches.
If we find any potential signs of high blood pressure, we will refer you to your GP for further investigation and treatment if appropriate.
Blood glucose tests, which can be conducted in our pharmacy through a simple blood test, measure the amount of glucose in your blood. Glucose is a simple sugar that provides energy for the body. The amount of sugar in the blood is controlled by a hormone called insulin, which is produced by the pancreas (a gland behind the stomach). When food is digested and enters your bloodstream, insulin moves glucose out of the blood and into cells, where it's broken down to produce energy. However, if you have diabetes, your body is unable to break down glucose into energy. This is because there's either not enough insulin to move the glucose, or the insulin produced doesn't work properly.
Although there are no lifestyle changes you can make to lower your risk of type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes is often linked to being overweight.
We provide the Discharge Medicines Service. The service has been established to help you understand your medicines and any changes when you leave hospital and to reduce incidences of avoidable harm caused by medicines.
We dispense NHS and Private prescriptions and will give advice on how to get the most from your medicine. We keep a comprehensive stock and use a dispensing robot to provide a fast, accurate and efficient sevice. If we don't stock it then we have twice daily deliveries fro the UK's three bigest wholesalers so we can fill your prescription promptly.

Erection problems (impotence) are very common, particularly in men over 40. It's usually nothing to worry about, but you should see a GP if it keeps happening.
Most men occasionally fail to get or keep an erection. Causes of erection problems can be stress, tiredness, anxiety or drinking too much alcohol, and it's nothing to worry about.
If it happens more often, it may be caused by physical or emotional problems.
Medicine such as sildenafil is often used by doctors to treat erectile dysfunction. It is also available from our pharmacy. You no longer need a prescription to get sildenafil. You can have a private consultation with our pharmacist to make sure it's safe for you to take it.
You can make an appointment with our Pharmacist to discuss how you are managing your regular medicines, are you taking them at the right time, do any cause problems, are you using your inhaler correctly, do any interact with products you have bought etc. Ask the Pharmacist for more details.
It is important that you take the right dose of your prescribed medicines at the right time each day to get the most from your medicines to control your condition(s) as much as possible. This can sometimes be difficult if you take more than one medicine. One way in which this can be made easier is for your medicines to be supplied in a Monitored Dosage System, which provides you with a separate compartment for each dosage time of the day.
A monitored dosage system (MDS) is a medication storage device designed to simplify the administration of solid oral dose medication, especially for those on multiple medications. It aims to address the issues of difficulty accessing medication due to sight impairment or other disability and/or forgetfulness.
MDS devices are usually a variation on the design of a box or a blister pack, divided into days of the week with several compartments per day to allow for the different timing of doses such as breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime.
Our Pharmacist can help identify which patients this type of system would be suitable for.
MDS may be suitable for patients in the following circumstances:
- You struggle to organise medications and find it difficult to remember to take them at the correct time each day
- You have a large number of medications to take each day
- You find it difficult to remove medication from its packaging
- You have a carer who helps you to ensure you take your medicines correctly.
Ask a member of our pharmacy team about whether this service would benefit you or whether there is another course of action, which may be of more help.

Initially, you may need to hold reading materials further away to see them clearly. Print on newspapers or on restaurant menus may appear blurred, especially in dim lighting. This is caused by the eyes lens becoming less flexible with age and these changes will progress with time.
